Pacific Standard Time Presents: Modern Architecture in L.A. was an initiative of the Getty. It was a collaborative celebration of Southern California’s lasting impact on modern architecture. It included exhibitions and accompanying programs presented by seventeen area cultural institutions. The initiative lasted from April through July, 2013.
I was engaged on this project to art direct the design of the interface, and develop a responsive, mobile friendly site. The site was to act as a calendar of events as well as a gathering of information about the different programs and exhibitions that would be presented during its lifespan.
Critical on the list was to make an easy-to-use CMS that would allow the site content owner to easily edit and add content. The site was built on WordPress, and custom developed from the ground up using the Thematic framework, with a responsive adaptation modified by Scott Nix. The site features adaptive images, slideshows, and a heavily modified and customized Events Calendar Pro by Modern Tribe.
The site was a smashing success, and wound up winning a Bronze Muse award in the Public Outreach category from the America Alliance of Museums!
Really cool to have gotten to work on that, especially considering it made me an easy shoe-in for my job at The Getty.
